Do you remember my student’s post last year regarding the Accor Take Off Challenge called Your Future of Loyalty?  I am proud like a mum, they came in 2nd… what an achievement!
Well, and this year, another group of 3 of my brilliant students are trying to fill the footsteps of their peers, participating in this year’s Accor Challenge Innovation in F&B (sincerely hope that the Spa & Wellness challenge is coming soon!). They have a great idea worth supporting, so please make sure you vote for them here.

One year passes fast, and Accor Hotels is calling again for the next challenge. The international renowned hotel chain is launching their fifth edition of its student competition named TAKE OFF. Also this year as well as in the past years Accor enforces young students from universities, hotel management schools and business schools all around the world to take this one in a lifetime occasion and to present a project to one of the leading hotel operators. This year’s topic “Innovation in the Food and Beverage offer of AccorHotels- Imagine how AccorHotels restaurants could become the place to meet”. The idea leaves plenty of room to realize the wildest dreams and to develop a fresh and trendy F&B concept.

Having in mind endless ideas, a group of three IUBH Students set together and started to develop a unique restaurant concept. To get a better understanding of the current market situation, all relevant aspects were taken into consideration such as: trends, style, hypes, customer needs and wants. The travel industry grows rapidly and is a vibrant spot. Nevertheless, it is important to keep the individuality of each guest in the centre of the operation. 

Having recognised the major challenges of the industry and recalling the philosophy of AccorHotels an innovative concept was conceived.

Create, post, eat, enjoy!

Those are the keywords for our idea. We want to break with the traditional restaurant concept and turn outlets into an inspiring and exciting meeting place. Our concept combines the idea of getting individualized meals and sharing those via social media and adds interactivity. It will make the AccorHotels’ restaurants not only the place to eat but also a creative space to have fun with your friends.

  • First, you create your own food or drinks (e.g. a cake) right at your table.
  • By using social media, you share those creations in a contest,
  • gather the most likes
  • and find your creation on the next monthly menu.

Uniqueness of the concept as well as other components will contribute to the success of the idea.

An awesome tool to grow: social media

Social media are not only a fundamental part of our idea but also an important factor for hotel companies to strengthening brand recognition, maintaining market position, allowing for a greater exposure world wide and certainly to generating increased profits. Linking AccorHotels with a guest’s post is beneficial for both parties: on one side the guest has the chance to participate in this exclusive concept and on the other side, Accor can increase their public awareness without greater effort. People will get to know the brand, and the amount of potential new customers ca grow grace to a simple tool called social media, which has changed the way of how we all communicate and relate to others dramatically.

Interactivity and the personal component

For most hotels, customer opinion is an important source to keep improving and to showing the guest that their thoughts are valuable. Our idea is encouraging the guest to share their ideas and thoughts with the hotel, and the guests may get the feeling that they are part of the whole by implementing this innovative and overall interactive concept. There could not be any better way to show the guest that AccorHotels cares about their guest’s ideas.
