my top 6 apps adding to a personal wellness lifestyle
I know, there are hundreds of useful apps out there… actually such a huge amount with new ones popping up every day, that it is hard to keep track and choose the ones one really needs.
These are my top 6 apps adding to my personal wellness lifestlyle; the ones I use most, not only when travelling.
- my two favourite apps for getting around
- my two favourite apps for finding places
- my two favourite apps for relaxation of the mind
top apps wellness lifestyle: HERE Maps
My absolute favourite and trusted navigation tool!
I admit that I am nt at best terms with navigation systems in general, too many time different car navigation systems have gotten me into serious trouble… and if they are reliable, they are not intuitive, or user friendly. And of course, what when crossing borders?
My solution is HERE Maps for life, an app that can be used offline(!) and still is highly precise! I am never frustrated again finding all the lovely spas anywhere in the world. I can simply download the respective area I am looking for prior to my journey.
top apps wellness lifestyle: Runtastic
I actually use Runtastic not only for keeping track of my excercise results, but also as a navigation system. Particularly when wandering around the Alps or National Parcs.
But of course, the main purpose is tracking running, biking or walking efforts, which is easy and precise. The matching app Pedometer provides you with tracking your steps, so distances become less important, but overall exercise during the day.
top apps wellness lifestyle: YOUSPA
YOUSPA is the first large-scale collection of Spas around the world. It offers the opportunity to find a Spa solution just about anywhere in the world. YOUSPA’s objective is to populate its database with every single SPA in the world, whether big or small.
The platform provides a data base, a magazine, and an app. With the app, you can
- find your spa anywhere in the world
- write a review after your visit
- share your opinion
top apps wellness lifestyle: YogaTrail
Yogatrail helps me find my nearest Yoga Class anywhere in the world!
Registered Yoga Studios and instructors display their class information and events, the app automatically suggests offers nearby my current location.
A map view helps navigating.
top apps wellness lifestyle: Headspace
Headspace is like a gym membership for the mind. Headspace is your very own personal trainer, to help you train your mind.
The simple idea is to teach the world to meditate, so that everyone can live a happier, healthier, more enjoyable life.
You can find free 10 minute programs, download sessions and use offline, listen to programs online, enjoy different programs for different moods and more.
top apps wellness lifestyle: Audible
As a child, I used to listen to my favourite old fashioned long-playing record ‘jungle book’ almost every afternoon. Yes, I am talking about those huge black discs people used way back then…
Over the years advanced technology has replaced audio by video. It never occurred to me to ‘listen’ to stories other than during car rides on the radio every now and again. And even visual seemed more attractive than audio, made easy with new technology such as downloads on computer, tablets, smartphones, and using a reader such as my beloved kindle.
However over the last 2 years and owed to my dwindling eye sight (just another sign of ageing I am afraid) I have come to love audio books again and that is why I use Audible. I just recently listened to classic Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoi, what a treat!
Which apps do you use a lot? Which ones do you think I should add to my favourites?
