June Jacobs Spa Collection – the botanical skin care line
I got to know the botanical skin care line June Jacobs Spa Collection at the Global Wellness Summit this year.
June Jacobs has been a spa visionary for over thirty years and created three global skin care lines. So that she could maintain the highest level of quality and standards in manufacturing, June also opened her own independent laboratory.
I had a chance to try three different masques of her botanical skin care line, namely the
Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque
Mandarin Moisture Masque
Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque.
Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque
This is a clarifying masque, using a highly effective combination of papaya’s natural fruit enzyme and papain with extracts of mango and pineapple.
Dead surface impurities are gently dissolved, whilst nourishing oils (sweet almond and borage seed) can penetrate the skin.
The white thick cream applies well, my skin absorbed it immediately!
This masque left my skin soft and supple. I would certainly use it once in a while, yet not on a very regular basis due to my skin type. It has a very fruity scent and improves the tone and elasticity of my skin.
Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque
Spice it up! This spicy detoxifying masque with an orange colour can be quiet strong on your skin, hence the manufacturer recommends to leave for 3 minutes up to 10 minutes on the skin. I removed the mask after a few minutes, as I could tell it was maybe a little too strong for my skin. So am afraid I won’t become a regular.
Yet it is so suitable for this season by being so wintery, with the pumpkin and spice scent, it makes you want to put it in your chai latte!
Mandarin Moisture Masque
The Mandarin Moisture Masque is a clear, firm and rather sticky gel. In fact, I used the masque during a hot bath and although sweating ever so slightly, the gel did not run of my face.
The lovely and refreshing Mandarin scent is preeminent. After a thorough cleanse I applied and left the moisture gel masque for about 20 minutes, which is longer than recommended. Yet did not do any harm to my skin.
Algae extracts and hyaluronic acid LINK act as humectants and retain moisture in the skin. Other powerful ingredients are green tea, goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed. Even after the first use I felt my skin texture and tone improved, knowing that extracts of the ingredients neutralise free radicals, protect my skin rom environmental toxins and combat the visible signs of premature ageing. This is the right one for my rather dry and dehydrated skin and I have used it a couple of times in the meantime. Definitely my favourite amongst the three!
The June Jacobs Philosophy
June Jacobs Spa Collection uses high quality natural ingredients. The manufacturer abstains from parabens, preservatives, synthetic dyes, sulphates and mostly from petrochemicals and fragrances.
This botanical skin care is made in the US.
June is an avid cyclist and rides her bike to her office on Park Avenue. She has been an active board member of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund since 1997.
Spa Geek Knowledge
Parabens are a specific type of preservative that protect food and cosmetics against microbial contaminants, specifically yeast and mold. Recent studies show that parabens may cause cancer and cause allergic reactions/skin rashes.
